THE CARDBACKS REVEALED: ICCC 2023 CUSTOM EXCLUSIVE MOC RETROWAVE DESIGN

It's only a matter of weeks before you can get your hands on an ICCC 2023 custom-exclusive action figure! But before we get there, Matt Brookins of D2C Studios took a moment to discuss his concept behind the cardback design and why he took his approach.

The 2023 custom exclusive run, commissioned by Showrunner Michael Havens, is themed “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.” The run includes four custom action figures: Greedo, Cad Bane, The Marshall, and Boba Fett. They will be available in various iterations and presented in unique packaging. 

As for the cardbacks, Brookins explains::

“For the cardbacks this year, I wanted to do something slightly different. I still wanted them to be inspired by vintage Kenner designs, but I didn’t want to necessarily follow the exact blueprint of a specific card back as I had in the past. 

“I thought it would be fun to include a large image on each, and then information about the exclusive, similar to the offer write-ups Kenner would put on a card. 

“And, of course, Kim Simmons’ photography takes things to another level. I think my favorite picture he took this year was a re-creation of the three-way standoff from the classic film, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, but with this year’s 2023 ICCC exclusives in place of Blondie, Tuco, and Angel Eyes.”

Greedo, The Marshall, and Cad Bane will be packaged on custom retrowave-style card backs and will be available to ICCC guests on a first-come, first-served basis. VIPs will be offered a special treat, as the 2023 exclusives will be available in an Italian-style retrowave four-pack, which will also include Boba Fett. This set has the true Miami Vice vibe.

ICCC 2023 will be held May 26-28, 2023 at the Farm Bureau Exposition Center in Lebanon, TN, just outside of Nashville. Tickets are going fast, so get yours soon. Rooms are also going fast at our host hotels, so book before they sell out. #ICCCon
