BROOKINS REVEALS ICCC 2023 CUSTOM EXCLUSIVE PACKAGING: ‘THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY’

Knee-deep in the production of the 2023 ICCC exclusive action figures themed “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly,” Matt Brookins of D2C Studios is giving us a deep dive into the look and feel of the packaging, and his insights into the design.

The 2023 exclusive run includes four custom action figures: Greedo, Cad Bane, The Marshall, and Boba Fett. They will be available in a variety of iterations and presented in unique packaging. 

Brookins explains his idea and approach:

“It was a given that the 2023 ICCC packaging needed to be in the vintage Kenner style. However, this year there is a fun twist: it is done in a retro wave way. This means flashy colors and 8-bit-like backgrounds.

“Each character package has slightly different art. The 4-packs are different from the MOCs, which are different from the boxes.

“Instead of pictures of the action figures with vehicles, accessories, and dioramas on the back, there will be artwork showing groups of characters, taking inspiration from 80s pop culture such as Miami Vice and Michael Jackson. And, of course, the backs will also have the amazing photography of Kim Simmons as well, to show the available figures! Collect them all!”

Greedo, The Marshall, and Cad Bane will be packaged on custom retrowave-style card backs and will be available to ICCC guests on a first-come, first-served basis. VIPs will be offered a special treat, as the 2023 exclusives will be available in an Italian-style retrowave four-pack, which will also include Boba Fett. This set has the true Miami Vice vibe.

ICCC 2023 will be held May 26-28, 2023 at the brand new Farm Bureau Exposition Center in Lebanon, TN, just outside of Nashville. Tickets are on sale now. Book a room at our host hotels before they sell out. #ICCCon
