KIM SIMMONS, RENOWNED KENNER PHOTOGRAPHER, RETURNS FOR ICCC 2024

The Man Who Shot Luke Skywalker” Kim Simmons is the talented photographer behind much of the iconic imagery of Kenner’s vintage Star Wars toy line, Simmons' work has left a lasting mark on the franchise's visual legacy. Simmons is returning to ICCC 2024 to meet fans, showcase his work’ and tell his stories of those glory days.

It was the 1970s when he received his first assignment with Kenner’s Star Wars toy line. Perched several feet above the ground, Simmons captured action figures against a yellow backdrop—marking the start of his enduring relationship with Star Wars. His passion for creating captivating scenes to be displayed on toy boxes would resonate with customers, and create a lasting legacy.

One of Simmons’ most notable projects came in 1982 when he crafted and photographed an expansive Hoth Battle Scene for Kenner, which also served as the focal point of his Master of Photography thesis. The images he created have since become iconic, gracing the pages of numerous books and publications.

Simmons continued to photograph Star Wars products until Hasbro’s departure from Cincinnati in 2001. His work has had an indelible impact on the toy industry and the enduring legacy of Star Wars.

We are pleased to welcome Simmons back for ICCC 2024.
