‘JEM’ VOICE ACTRESS SAMANTHA NEWARK JOINS ICCC 2023 GUEST STAR LINEUP

If you were a child in the ‘80s, you definitely know the work of Samantha Newark, who voiced “Jem in the wildly popular cult classic TV series “Jem and the Holograms” from 1985-1988. We’re pleased to announce that Newark will appear at ICCC 2023 to meet fans, sign autographs and take photos!

Newark has an impressive career in animation and entertainment. In "Jem and The Holograms," she provided the speaking voices for both Jem and Jerrica Benton, making her an essential cast member in the beloved animated series, which was a joint collaboration by Hasbro, Sunbow Productions and Marvel Productions. Her work earned her nominations for a "Young Artist Award" twice, and "Best animated series."

She has lent her voice to numerous other projects in the animation world. She guest-starred on the original Transformers cartoon as "Ariel" in the classic Transformers episode "War Dawn," and in other episodes played the role of "Elise Presser." She also provided the voice of a young Peter Pan's mother in Steven Spielberg's feature film "Hook." In addition to her voice-over work, Samantha has appeared in on-camera roles, including playing the role of Debbie in the 1987 thriller film "Summer Camp Nightmare."

Samantha has also been involved in various animated short films, including the festival favorite "Pound Dogs," which she contributed two characters to. The project won the MTV "Voice and Vision Animation Award" for writing and animation and garnered two development deals with MTV. Samantha worked with director Mike Salva again for the animated short film "HG Chicken," which starred Bobcat Goldthwait, Jonathan Katz, Maria Bamford, and Todd Barry.

Samantha has also lent her voice-over work and singing talent to blockbuster video game titles, including "God of War," "Wild Arms 3," "Twisted Metal Black," and "Britney’s Dance Beat."
