TOM OSBORNE, INFLUENTIAL TOY INDUSTRY DESIGNER AND CONCEPTUALIST, TO APPEAR AT ICCC 2022

We are pleased to welcome toy-making legend Tom Osborne to ICCC 2022 to engage with collectors and fans and discuss his more than 40 years of influence and innovation on making magic for toy lovers everywhere.

Osborne is a noted industrial designer, conceptualist, illustrator, and wordsmith. He has contributed to some of the most iconic brands in the toy industry. While Director of Design at Kenner, Osborne led designers, sculptors, and soft good designers in the creation and execution of such powerful product lines as Star Wars, Care Bears, Ghostbusters, Strawberry Shortcake, Play-Doh, Centurions, M.A.S.K. and many others.

Tom’s groups were responsible for all of Kenner’s production designs, and they created many of the second-year product concepts as well. Osborne spent 19 years working at Kenner holding positions from a co-op student to Director of Design.

Tom also co-founded and successfully grew a design consultant company — with fellow Kenner designers Jim Swearingen and Tim Effler — that catered to children’s products and many other non-toy industries including Thermos, Ford, Fellowes, and Riddell to name a few.

As a faculty member at The University of Cincinnati’s highly-rated DAAP college, Osborne teaches product sketching and rendering, mentors students, and consults students on their careers. Tom has taught and influenced over 900 graduates of the industrial design program at U.C.

Tom lives in Cincinnati with his wife of over 40 years and his two Dachshunds. He plays piano and trombone and “jams” often with local musicians. He is considered an expert in automotive design history and is also regarded as an expert in the history of the Indianapolis 500.

We are pleased to welcome Osborne to ICCC 2022! ICCC 2022 will be held April 29-May 1, at the Sheraton Music City resort in Nashville, TN. Tickets are on sale now.
