GOING THE 'KIT-BASHED' ROUTE ON ICCC 2021 EXCLUSIVE VINTAGE-STYLE BOBA FETT

Custom action figure artist Matt Brookins, who is producing an ICCC 2021 Exclusive Boba Fett action figure based on the original Kenner prototype designs, has provided ICCCon with yet another update on his plans and progress:

‘Most customs I do require a bit of cutting, sanding, grinding, sculpting, etc.

‘I thought a lot about the best way to approach this custom. Most of the pictures of kit bashed Fetts that Kenner made used a C-3PO torso, and had sculpting over top of it. However, my goal wasn’t to make an exact replica of what Kenner did. (I believe there are custom versions available out there that people have already made that look very close to what Kenner did.) I wanted to still have the 3PO “cod piece” though - I think that’s part of the iconic look. So I simply combined a Fett upper torso with a 3PO lower torso!

‘I had planned to use Fett’s original arms initially, but I really like the look of the Stormtrooper arms on the kit bash Fett. So I used those, and did some minor sculpting on them (added dart and shoulder pads, softened the upper sleeves).

‘Kenner used the Death Squad Commander‘s legs, and sculpted over top of them for their kit bashed Fett. Kind of like the torso, I opted for a compromise instead of doing that. I used the upper DSC legs, and the original Fett lower legs.

‘This was all simple in concept. But quite a bit of work combining things to make them blend better.

‘One thing missing from the Kenner production Boba Fett figure, was a gun holster. So I had to include one! I used Han Hoth’s.

‘So, in the end, this is a kit bash inspired Boba Fett, that doesn’t look exactly like the original. “

Stay tuned for future updates to see progress on this ICCC exclusive kit bashed Boba Fett!
