LUKE JEDI ANNOUNCED AS SECOND FIGURE IN ICCC 2022 EXCLUSIVE CUSTOM ACTION FIGURE WAVE
News about the ICCC 2022 exclusive action figure wave based on “The Mandalorian” TV series on Disney+ keeps getting better. In this breaking news report, D2C Studios’ Matt Brookins and ICCC showrunner Michael Havens announce the second figure in the wave: Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight!
“While this next figure may not be ”new and unusual,” it certainly is one of the most popular characters from the Star Wars universe: Luke Skywalker!
“Like many people, I was disappointed with the amount of screen time and the portrayal of Luke in the sequel trilogy. And like a lot of people, my 2020 was a pretty bad year personally. So when I watched the final episode of season two of The Mandalorian, and Luke showed up on-screen, it was quite emotional. Luke how I remembered him as a kid, but much more formidable now. They gave him a moment in that final episode like they gave Darth Vader in Rogue One. So I knew I needed to do a custom Luke, for me if for no one else.
“I have always wanted to do a Jedi Luke with a telescoping saber, just like the original version. The heads on the Luke Jedi (and Trooper) were always strange to me, and I always preferred the SW and ESB versions. So I wanted to incorporate both of these things into the custom figure.
“If you watched the Disney Gallery “Making of the Season 2 Finale,” you learned that things on-screen often look different than they do to the naked eye in person. For a famous example, we all know that Han Solo’s Hoth jacket is brown, but it appeared to be blue on-screen (and thus Kenner’s figure has a blue jacket). In the “Making of” show, we learned that Luke’s Jedi robes were similar. His cloak was actually brown in Return of the Jedi (which is how Kenner made it) but appeared to be black on screen. For Luke’s appearance in the Mandalorian, they actually made it black on purpose due to this fact. And so, he shall have a black cloak here. His cloak is hand-cut and sewn with material similar to the original cloaks, but in pure black.”
The Luke Jedi, Boba Fett, and the two other yet-to-be-revealed custom action figures will be available in limited quantities, and with different packaging, during all three days of ICCC 2022, April 29-May 1, at the Sheraton Music City resort in Nashville, TN. Each day will feature different packaging. Tickets are on sale now. #ICCCon
