ICCC WELCOMES DENIS LAWSON: THE HERO BEHIND ‘WEDGE ANTILLES’
Denis Lawson is best known for his portrayal of Wedge Antilles in the Star Wars franchise, the best pilot in the Galaxy! A character that has become iconic among fans of the series. This October, Lawson will be appearing as a special guest star at ICCC Nashville, giving fans the chance to meet the actor who brought this beloved character to life.
Lawson’s role as Wedge Antilles, the skilled and steadfast Rebel Alliance pilot, first appeared in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) and recurred throughout the original trilogy, including The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983). His character’s survival through numerous battles and his crucial role in the Rebel victories have endeared him to Star Wars fans worldwide.

Outside of the Star Wars universe, Lawson has had a successful and varied acting career. He starred in the critically acclaimed film Local Hero (1983), where his performance as Gordon Urquhart showcased his range as an actor. His work in Bleak House (2005), where he played John Jarndyce, earned him further recognition and accolades.
Lawson’s television work includes a notable role in the series New Tricks, where he portrayed Steve McAndrew from 2013 to 2014. His performance in Comfort and Joy (1984) as Alan Bird is also highly regarded, further establishing his reputation as a talented and versatile actor.
