FAMED ARTIST AND ANIMATOR JOHN POMEROY TO APPEAR AT ICCC 2023
ICCC is pleased to welcome legendary animator John Pomeroy to its growing slate of featured stars, artists, and collecting dignitaries.
Pomeroy’s career spans decades and includes work on some of the most beloved feature films of all time. He got his start at the Walt Disney Company in 1973 as a background artist, and quickly earned a promotion to full animator. He worked on Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too, which earned an Academy Award nomination.
After leaving Disney, Pomeroy joined with fellow animators Don Bluth and Gary Goldman to form Don Bluth Productions. Together, they produced Banjo the Woodpile Cat and The Secret of NIMH, as well as the animation for the popular laserdisc video games Space Ace and Dragon’s Lair.
Pomeroy returned to Disney to work as the supervising animator on Pocahontas, where he also designed and led a crew of fourteen animators to create the character of John Smith. He was also a supervising animator for Fantasia 2000, and an animator for Treasure Planet, Curious George, The Simpsons Movie, and Atlantis: The Lost Empire.
In addition to his animation work, Pomeroy is a talented sculptor, oil painter, storyboard artist, lecturer, and college professor. He has created busts that animated film artists use to visualize 3-D character models, and has painted historical events. Pomeroy is also a builder of historic weapons that are actually used as props in Hollywood movies.
